What is a sub?

A Subscription (Sub) is a paid membership that allows viewers to support their favorite streamers on streaming platforms while gaining access to exclusive perks.

How Subscriptions Work

When a viewer subscribes to a streamer’s channel, they pay a monthly fee to unlock special benefits. Subscriptions come in different tiers and vary per platform

There’s also Twitch Prime (Prime Gaming), which allows Amazon Prime members to subscribe to one channel for free each month.

What is the difference between a YouTube sub and a Twitch/Kick sub?

When a viewer subscribes to a streamer’s channel on YouTube, it is the same as a follow. Unlike YouTube, Twitch and Kick subscriptions are always paid, meaning if you “sub” to a streamer, you’re directly financially supporting them while getting exclusive benefits.

What is Prime Gaming?

If you have Amazon Prime, you get Prime Gaming, which includes one free Twitch subscription per month. Follow these steps to link your account and claim your free sub.

Step 1: Link Your Amazon Prime Account to Twitch

Go to Prime Gaming:
Visit https://gaming.amazon.com/
Sign in to Amazon:
- Click Sign in at the top right and enter your Amazon Prime account details.
Link Your Twitch Account:
- Once signed in, find the “Link Twitch Account” option.
- Click it and sign in with your Twitch account credentials.
- Confirm and authorize the connection.

Step 2: Claim Your Free Twitch Subscription

Go to Twitch:
- Open https://www.twitch.tv/ and log into your account.
Find a Channel to Subscribe To:
- Go to the Twitch streamer’s channel you want to support.
- Click the “Subscribe” button under their stream or on their channel page.
Select “Use Prime Sub”:
- If your accounts are linked, you’ll see an option for “Subscribe Free with Prime”.
- Click it to activate your free monthly sub.
Confirm the Subscription:
- Once selected, confirm your Prime Subscription.
- You’ll now have subscriber perks for that streamer, such as emotes, badges, and ad-free viewing (on most channels).

Step 3: Renew Your Prime Sub Every Month

Unlike regular paid subs, Prime subs do not auto-renew.
You’ll need to manually re-subscribe to your favorite streamer every 30 days.
